Yes, we are one of the few companies in the West Country capable of repair and service of these grand designs. The vast majority of calls on designjet/plotters printers relate to a jammed printhead caused by a shredded carriage belt. This is because the very long belt has to travel extremely fast across the page and loop back on itself on a tiny bobbin or captstan - this causes friction, wear and failure and typically manifests itself as a fault by bits of rubber appearing on the printouts or in the tray.

NOTE: Our policy is NOT to change shredded belts as a single targetted task. Why and what does this mean..?.....well, to get to the state where a belt can be removed requires the Engineer to split down the plotter to a very basic state indeed. At this point many serviceable parts are laid out on the mat, available for careful cleaning and lubricating and occasionally replacing. To do a proper job, all this attention to detail, cleaning, lubing and returning carefully will take approx. 3 hours before the plotter is returned to the customer. Before you choose a company to 'change a belt' ask them how long it will take. If they say an hour or so....and the price seems to reflect that time period -well then you get what you pay for and draw your own conclusions. We get requests from London/B'ham/Manchester etc. plotter repair companies to represent them on site at Bristol and they are prepared only to pay us for a 'typical one hour on site job'. As a 'quality' repairer we decline such work - it's our choice to do a meticulous careful job which takes time and it is also yours as the customer to decide which you want.

We usually require a quiet corner of the office where the plotter can be wheeled to, out of the way, so we can split it down and work on it, but if that is not possible, we can take it away to our workshops at no extra cost. We try to be as unobtrusive as possible on site, only switching on the vac. cleaner etc. when it will not disturb you on the phone or talking to customers etc. - we've been there, got the teeshirt.
